Transparency International Türkiye participated in the anti-corruption workshop organized in partnership with the Swedish Embassy, the Consulate General of Sweden, and SIDA on March 5. During the workshop, we shared insights on the state of anti-corruption efforts in Türkiye, discussed how to combat corruption, shared our experiences, and explored general strategies with the partner organizations.
In the presentation, we defined the concepts of transparency, accountability, integrity, and anti-corruption, emphasizing their significance for democratic governance and sustainable development. We also analyzed Türkiye’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2024 results, highlighting the country’s ranking and the underlying reasons behind its score.
Key corruption risks faced by civil society organizations—such as conflicts of interest, lack of financial transparency, and favoritism—were discussed, and practical solutions were proposed to mitigate these risks. Additionally, we introduced the Anti-Corruption Toolkit for Civil Society Organizations, providing practical tools for strengthening governance mechanisms.
The program continued with an introduction to SIDA’s Anti-Corruption Strategy, where partner civil society organizations were informed about anti-corruption efforts, the impact of corruption on development, and SIDA’s recommended strategies. The event concluded with a workshop session, where participants identified corruption risks and presented proposed solutions.
