GeneralThe first Civil Coalition Meeting

The first Civil Coalition Meeting

The first Civil Coalition Meeting for the project of “Transparency in Political Life” was held with the participation of 17 different civil society organizations.

Transparency International Turkey, in the scope of globally working Transparency International, organized the first Civil Coalition Meeting on February 15, 2015 at Taksim Point Hotel as an activity of “Transparency in Political Life”.

E.Oya Özarslan (chair of TI Turkey) completed the introductory part of the program and it continued with the speeches of Dr.Katia Hristova (TI Bulgaria) and Duje Prket (GONG Croatia).

The participants created three working groups focused on Asset Declaration for MPs & Declaration of Electoral Campaign Finance, Petition Campaign and Campaign of Integrity Pact and they aimed at making suggestions, exchanging ideas. Reciprocal share of these group outcomes and talking about an expected activity outline for the rest of the project formed closure of the program.

The project of “Transparency in Political Life” had been thought as a necessary impulsion to form a new discourse and culture of politics in Turkey especially before the oncoming parliamentary elections on June 7, 2015. Considering this formation, the crucial role of civil society can easily be seen in the project. Therefore, the second Civil Coalition Meeting will be held on March 26, 2015.
