Transparency International Turkey (TI Turkey) seeks to employ a Project Assistant under its Media and Communications Department.

TI-Turkey (Uluslararası Şeffaflık Derneği), founded in 2008 by voluntary efforts aims to set the rule of transparency, integrity and accountability principles in all segments of the society for the democratic, social and economic development of the country.

TI-Turkey undertake projects under its departments: Private Sector Studies, Public Sector Studies and Media and Communications. Within its structure, Media and Communication Department works closely together with colleagues from other departments to design and deliver campaigns and projects to achieve specific agreed objectivesin addition to the pursued projects targeting media field.

We are looking for a Project Assistant who will undertake responsibilities in pursued projects by Media and Communication department as well as manage the campaigns of TI Turkey.

The Project Assistant is expected to provide expertise on issues related to corruption risks, impunity and standards on integrity, human rights and fundamental freedoms such as freedom of expression, rule of law.

The primary tasks of the Project Assistant are:

  • Conducting research and presenting recommendations on standards on transparency and integrity in the media;
  • Communicating effectively with the network of press;
  • With support of Project Coordinator, agree on key strategies and work with the project team and contribute directly to the campaign work and projects when necessary;
  • Providing drafts within the agreed timetable and based on the standards laid out in the projects’ framework;
  • Following out national and international press, academic literature, publications/studies/releases of competent authorities and Transparency International on issues of transparency and fight against corruption;
  • Collaborating with the project stakeholders –media, academics, activists, and other NGOs and relevant public institutions- throughout the projects and organizing meetings and workshops;
  • Drafting and delivering the periodical to be presented to national and international stakeholders;
  • Contribute to promotional events surrounding the launch, preparation, announcement and dissemination of the findings and outputs of the projects.

The Project Assistant should have the following qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in media and communications, law, political science, public administration, or another related social science;
  • Familiarity with transparency, accountability and anti-corruption discourse;
  • Previous experience in media studies, campaigns as well as work experience in an NGO;
  • Ability to outline and explain good campaign strategies;
  • Experience in working with/applying qualitative and quantitative research methodologies; interview techniques;
  • Well-developed problem-solving, negotiation and communication skills
  • Well-developed project management skills
  • Very good knowledge in English including the skills in write succinctly and both for an academic and non-academic audience;
  • Excellent skills in using Office Programmes.
  • Willingness to contribute to the development of Media studies.
